"GOKARNA" - Lets GO-KARNAtaka

After our last week journey to the ancient and historical place to find peace, here I come with another relaxing destination to head to.

Gokarna is always a spot to relax on the idyllic calm beaches in the arms of mother earth. Its a place to have peaceful vacation and enjoy the feel of less commercialised version of Goa.

So let's get started with it.

(Note: I will give all distance and mode of transport from Mumbai as its been my home city and I travel mostly from here. Put down your comments if you want it from some other place will direct you from there as well.

And one more thing, thanks to all photographers who take beautiful pictures and upload them on google #thanks #pic-courtesy-Google)

Lets Begin,

Travelling ---

  • By Air
    •  The nearby airport to reach Gokarna is Dabolim - Goa International airport by which the Gokarna town /city centre is again approx. 140 Kms.(I don't suggest to take airways to this destination as again you have to travel by road for such long kms)
  • By Road
    • Again this option is not that good unless you want to try out your driving skills and enjoy roadways with your friends gang.
    • Approx. 730 Km from Mumbai Suburbs
    • You can find Karnataka State Transport (KSRTC) buses from Borivali , Sion, Chembur area to reach here, but again the time taken by bus transports are quite more than 17 - 18 hrs.
    • Also you can find private buses heading towards Bangalore, Kochi, Mangalore to catch this destination.
  • By Train
    • One of the best among all modes to reach here.
    • We have a daily train from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus to Ankola (Train no. 12619) and another train that runs on Monday & Friday from same station to Ankola (Train no. 12201)
    • Takes around 12hrs approx. by both trains and from Ankola station you will find private cabs and local autos taking you to the Gokarna town which is just hardly 20 Km from the station.
Stay ----
  • There are many hotels, villas, resort and even guest houses to choose from in the entire town.
  • Shacks are available near every beach area, try to get your day or evening at such shacks don't opt them for staying.
  • Dandhebaug area is near the Gokarna Beach which can be the place to stay so it keeps you near the beach on a walking distance.
  • You have many good resort and hotels option on the Om beach road, do give it a try if its suits your budget and choice.

After you have reached and found a suitable place to jump and relax, its time to make your tummy happy.

Special food to try ---

  • South Indian authentic thalis
  • Pomfret Fry
  • Kingfish Fry & Curried
  • Prawns Masala
  • Vindaloo
  • Nutella Banana Pancake
  • Fresh Pineapple Juice

Now lets roam around and explore  ---

Note : You can divide your itinerary into 2 days according to travel plan and places given below. And for mode of transport use rented two wheeler / cycles. Also you can bargain a local traveller to take you major places in one shot.

  •  Gokarna Beach - Hardly 10 mins walk from the city centre main market area.
  •  Om Beach -  Approx. 8 Km from Gokarna Main Beach. Had its name by the beautiful   black rock formations in the shape of OM symbol. Attraction mainly                               because of sports activity.
  •  Half Moon Beach - Its just a kilometer walk from Om beach. Comes with very             beautiful scenic while walking the trail.
  •  Paradise Beach - Another calm beach in Gokarna which is totally disconnected from   the crowd and hustle bustle of the town. Its on a walking trail from Om beach to Half   moon beach to Paradise Beach here. You can hardly found any food stalls or shacks,   so plan accordingly. We can reach here with a ferry from Om beach, if you don't want   to trek.
  •  Kudle Beach - Another serene atmosphere and silent beach to enjoy the beautiful   winds and breeze. You can enjoy beautiful sunset here. Its on the way towards your   Om beach route approx. 7.5 kms from Gokarna main beach.
  • Mahabaleshwara Temple - Very popular temple in Gokarna known for its huge structure of God Shiva. Beautifully white granite temple structure must visited place to be in Gokarna. Its just at 400m walk from the Gokarna main beach.
     Other attractions --
  • Maha Ganapathi Temple
  • Gokarna Cliff
  • Rock of Peace

I suggest to kindly sit back and relax rather than visiting every damn list you made to visit the places. Enjoy the mesmerising sunset and calm waves sounds on the beaches. Enjoy sports activities if you want to have the thrills.

Rented bikes are available on daily basis without fuel just like Goa with range of Rs 200 to Rs 300. Kindly opt them and enjoy the route.

Also if you love trekking and trails, do go for the Om beach - Half moon beach - Paradise Beach by walk , its just a worth to experience the beauty of surrounding nature.

I hope you all got some bright idea about another place to wander and explore, and satisfy your wander lust. And also I hope this plans never get failed just like every group's GOA plan :P

Wait for more to come.

Till then Ciao!!!
